Christians Stand Up

As I watched a television program on Sunday night, I found myself very disturbed. It was a debate between two pastors as one believed that homosexual men should marry. This pastor said that he felt that it was a spiritual experience when one man married another. My pastor often says that all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. I think that Christians have been too passive for way to long. I also feel that we are too busy being preoccupied with our own lives to do God's work. I was cut to the heart as I saw that this pastor was attempting to defend homosexual acts and attitudes. However, I hope that you will join me in standing up for Christianity and what the bible says about homosexuality. I hope that you will agree with me that homosexuality is an abomination within the eyesight of God. The devil has let his people roam free and Chrisitans don't even know it. I want to make it clear that I do not have any angst against homosexuality. However, what God calls sin in the bible, it is sin to me. Let us not be ignorant and passive anymore. If you know the bible, defend it. If you don't know the bible or Jesus, I invite you to know him.

What Do You Behold?

We as a people have a difficult battle to contend with on a daily basis. We have to determine what people come into our lives, what emotions to settle on, what about our lives do we want to change, as well as what our futures hold. Our vision toward our daily lives and what God wants of us must be positive and of hope. The bible shows us this in Matthew 6:22-23. We are told through the word of God that the lamp of the body is the eye. Our eyes can either be filled with darkness or with light. We have the choice to either think positively or negatively about our lives. As people, especially as Christians, we have to keep a positive faith and belief. I would go as far to say that faith is the ability to see the future instead of the present. Later in the same chapter, the bible says that you cannot serve God and mammon. Mammon is commonly interpreted as materialism, riches, prosperity, and other people. We cannot dare serve our materialistic desires, riches, prosperity and other people and expect to live godly lives. Allowing God to come into our lives makes the light slightly easier to focus on. Today's world is filled with darkness and despair. Our media outlets promote negativity and materialism. We have to change the type of light that comes into our eyes. Your focus should be on a positive mindset and those lives of the ones upon which you have influence. For example, parents should want to be positive role models and examples for their children. We should want to have an impact on the world of a good report. So, for this cause, we should stay optimistic. So, be careful to ask yourself, what am I beholding?

Overall Failure Starting With Education

The natural prosperity of any nation is its military and its educational system. It is safe to say that America's education system is failing miserably. The failure of the educational system is due to two hidden factors. The first of these factors is the decay of the family unit. This is the reason for most of the tribulations that we now face. There are few strong male figures in the home unit and women have often had to carry the brunt of the family oversight. This trickles down to the classroom. More of our teachers are women. Our young men should be taught by men sometimes. There is something about the presence of a man that changes the atmosphere. Man are natural leaders as it seems. This is to take away nothing that women have achieved or have done toward society. The second factor is the tolerance of today's society. Society has allowed, through the media, every type of activity to occur. The media promotes premature sexual activity, delinquency, materialism, and other aspects that bring detriment to society. Therefore, our children are more influenced by celebrities and reality television than educators and postsecondary education. These seem as unlikely reasons. However, we must take into account the path that society has taken for the worst. It is up to parents and all others to pray and come along side of teachers and administration. Parents must be supportive and passionate about getting children to see the value of education. The media must be responsible enough to promote education and life that does not consist of "celebrity status." Others in the community must go against the grain.

How can we save a generation suffering from moral decay?

This generation suffers from moral decay. I think our families have broken down at an alarming rate and fathers in the poverty stricken communities are virtually non-existent. The media promotes negativity and promiscuity. Our schools are suffering due to high drop out rates. We have a lot of men that are not responsible fathers or figures in the community. Our women struggle with low self-esteem. Is there anything that we can do to stop the decline in the world system. There are, I feel, two solutions to this problem. We can invest in the education of the young people of today. We should invest time into speaking and teaching by example the right way to be righteous. The next thing we can do is to change the man of today. It begins with the man because the man is the natural leader of the community. This is not to be sexist. I am one that can appreciate the role that the woman, especially the African American woman, in today's society. However, the men have to assume natural positions such as fathers and mentors. Join the Discussion

We invite you to join the discussion on the webpage http://generationtext.webs.com/apps/forums/. There are three different topics to choose from with more to come.

Consistent

I have put a new post on the page of my new website http://generationtext.webs.com/thewordoftheday.htm. Today's post talks about the word of the day being consistent. The definition of consistent, which is an adjective, means to "constantly adhere to the same principles." No matter how difficult or tiring life gets, we should be consistent in our characters and attitudes. Thanks and have a blessed day.

More Black Men In Jail Or College

I saw a disturbing video on Youtube last night talking about the plight that ails young black men in today's society. Most people old and young were asked the question of whether there are more black men in college or in jail today. I am sad to say that so many of the young black men in my community are in jail. I think that the young black man is so captivated by this materialistic society that doesn't do enough to promote manhood. Another reason is the breakdown in the family unit, which spawns so many problems within itself. Black men are maturing slowly because of a lack of role models and examples in their families and communities. We need to find a way to buck the trend and stop the decline of the black male, or all young men in our society.
