Updated Newsletter Coming This Week

There will be an updated newsletter later this week on The Jackson Learning Service at http://thejacksonlearningservice.web.officelive.com/. We are going to start some things early in preparation for Black History Month. All comments and questions are welcome.

Supprort Our Teachers

On of the staples of the Obama administration was to strengthen the United States educational system. I am commenting on an article from the publication on the US Department of Education at One of the ways improve the educational state of the US is to improve the conditions of our schools and teachers. You can find this article at http://www.2.ed.gov. Around my community in SC, teachers have only made approximately under $30,000. How can the person with the community responsibility of education make such little headway economically. Our teachers have to teach (in some cases) public behavior and academic priority. Mostly as it stands now, our teachers are teaching multiple subjects for quick results by administration. I am just saying that we should understand and respect the responsibility of our teachers. Our teachers are the core of society.

New Info About "Best College"

Hello, guys. Its been a few days but I am looking at a few new projects. I do have something that I want to talk about in reference to an article in Yahoo. In today's society, we often want the best bang for the best buck. We should also want the same educationally. In a recent article in Yahoo Finance, the best college has been determined as the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. It has the best monetary value for the education. However, this honor did come with great loss, according to the article. So many schools and universities have had to cut many sources of funding. There are so many factors that come into play when talking about value and education. We first think about teacher to student ratio, the prospect that our students are getting the attention that they need. We also tend to think of the administrative and business costs. There is still a dark road ahead financially. However, it is with great enthusiam that we must support our local educational institutions and avenues. Next are the resources and public funding. Where will this come from? We have to find ways to keep our educational system afloat. I would like for you to think of this until my next post.

MLK Day 2010

I just want to mention in this blog about the sacrifice that Martin Luther King extended to people like me. I am a young person who has studied history enough to know that there are some figures more important to the history of man. He not only sacrificed often from his family but for the sake of the future of young African American men such as myself. I am greatly appreciative. I feel a certain sense of responsibility to MLK and others in his lineage to carry myself with respect and dignity. Not to be abusive or destructive. But to be responsible and a person of integrity. I cannot allow myself to be the typical black young man or to fall into the hands of the depraved society. Black young men as a whole are too often stereotyped as irresponsible, disrespectful to women, angry, and destructive. I just want to be the alternative and the solution to the ails of society. I thank Dr. King for his sacrifice and others like him and there is a legacy that has to be passed on.

Pray for Haiti

It is so sad to sometimes look at the news and see the things that are going on. I am going to take a moment to pray and ask for God's blessings to the people of Haiti. We in America at times are spoiled with our seemingly good fortune. However, it is not a solid conclusion that this will not at some time and point happen to us. We should lift our prayers to the people of Haiti during such a crisis and difficult time.

New Things

As I said previously, we are going to be doing some new things with the Jackson Learning Service this year. I am planning on doing a newsletter within the next couple of weeks, so be looking out for that on my site http://thejacksonlearningservice.web.officelive.com. Also, I will be adding a word of wisdom page on to the site. I will make it into the format of an open discussion. My new year will be comprised of making God more a part of my life instead of just limiting him to Sundays as so many of us do. I thank all of you who are willing to participate and become involved in my blog and on my site. Thanks.

New Year, New Resolve

Hello everyone. This is John Cory Jackson and I am so excited about this new blog. The name of this blog will be called JLC F.A.M.E.. The JLC part stands for the Jackson Learning Service, my website that provides homework help and starting in a few days academic advice and spiritual moment and documents. The F.A.M.E part is an acronym that means Faith, Application, Ministry, and Education. You will learn that my faith and relationship with God is essential to all that I do. I have been working in the educational field for almost since 2004 in various arenas, from being a educational counselor at a middle school to tutoring mostly non-traditional college students at a local college here in SC. I will give my knowledge and observations of the spiritual and educational sectors only as I see them and as the spirit gives utterance. I hope to make you laugh, think, and inspire you to be the best that you can be. I am glad to be a part of the online community and hopefully you will be able to accept me as I am. I thank you in advance and I am looking forward to giving you positive insight.
